The Female Soundscape Project<\/em> is an ongoing research-creation initiative led by GUI Ren that investigates how women experience, express, and intervene in the world through sound. It brings together sound art, feminist methodology, and participatory practices to explore the dynamic relationships between gender, listening, memory, and urban space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A core strand of the project focuses on the everyday auditory experiences of Chinese female new immigrants in Hong Kong. Through collaborative soundwalks, field recordings, sound-based workshops, and soundscape composition, this strand examines how migration and spatial displacement are embodied and re-narrated through sound. However, the scope of the Female Soundscape Project<\/em> extends beyond a single demographic. It is equally concerned with broader questions of how women\u2014as both listeners and vocal agents\u2014engage with and transform acoustic environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project invites women from different backgrounds to participate in critical listening and creative sound practices, aiming to challenge dominant auditory norms while fostering care, attention, and collective memory through sound. Participants are encouraged not only to share their listening experiences but to actively shape them through sound-based artistic engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an evolving platform, the Female Soundscape Project<\/em> amplifies marginalised auditory perspectives and promotes feminist listening as both a method and a form of agency. Its outcomes include multichannel compositions, site-specific installations, public performances, and the 2025 exhibition Sonic Transitions: Auditory Stories of Female New Immigrants in Hong Kong<\/em>, curated by GUI Ren and organised by SoundLab, with funding support from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and the Cultural and Sports Committee of City University of Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u300a\u5973\u6027\u8072\u97f3\u666f\u89c0\u8a08\u5283\u300b\uff08Female Soundscape Project<\/em>\uff09\u662f\u7531\u85dd\u8853\u5bb6\u6842\u4ec1\u767c\u8d77\u4e26\u4e3b\u6301\u7684\u4e00\u9805\u6301\u7e8c\u6027\u7814\u7a76\u8207\u5275\u4f5c\u8a08\u5283\uff0c\u805a\u7126\u5973\u6027\u5982\u4f55\u900f\u904e\u8072\u97f3\u611f\u77e5\u4e16\u754c\u3001\u8868\u9054\u81ea\u8eab\uff0c\u4e26\u4ecb\u5165\u7a7a\u9593\u8207\u793e\u6703\u95dc\u4fc2\u3002\u8a08\u5283\u878d\u5408\u8072\u97f3\u85dd\u8853\u3001\u5973\u6027\u4e3b\u7fa9\u65b9\u6cd5\u8ad6\u8207\u53c3\u8207\u5f0f\u5be6\u8e10\uff0c\u63a2\u7d22\u6027\u5225\u3001\u8046\u807d\u3001\u8a18\u61b6\u8207\u57ce\u5e02\u7a7a\u9593\u4e4b\u9593\u7684\u6d41\u52d5\u95dc\u4fc2\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u8a08\u5283\u7684\u4e00\u500b\u6838\u5fc3\u90e8\u5206\u95dc\u6ce8\u5167\u5730\u5973\u6027\u65b0\u79fb\u6c11\u5728\u9999\u6e2f\u7684\u65e5\u5e38\u8046\u807d\u7d93\u9a57\u3002\u900f\u904e\u8072\u97f3\u6563\u6b65\u3001\u7530\u91ce\u9304\u97f3\u3001\u8072\u97f3\u85dd\u8853\u5de5\u4f5c\u574a\u8207\u8072\u97f3\u666f\u89c0\u5275\u4f5c\uff0c\u9019\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\u65e8\u5728\u63cf\u7e6a\u5973\u6027\u5982\u4f55\u5728\u9077\u5f99\u8207\u7a7a\u9593\u8b8a\u52d5\u4e2d\uff0c\u900f\u904e\u8072\u97f3\u91cd\u69cb\u8a18\u61b6\u8207\u8eab\u9ad4\u7d93\u9a57\u3002\u7136\u800c\uff0c\u300a\u5973\u6027\u8072\u97f3\u666f\u89c0\u8a08\u5283\u300b\u7684\u8996\u91ce\u4e0d\u50c5\u9650\u65bc\u7279\u5b9a\u65cf\u7fa4\uff0c\u66f4\u95dc\u6ce8\u4e0d\u540c\u80cc\u666f\u7684\u5973\u6027\u5982\u4f55\u4f5c\u70ba\u300c\u8046\u807d\u8005\u300d\u8207\u300c\u767c\u8072\u8005\u300d\uff0c\u4ecb\u5165\u8207\u91cd\u69cb\u6211\u5011\u6240\u8655\u7684\u8072\u97f3\u74b0\u5883\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u672c\u8a08\u5283\u9080\u8acb\u5404\u7a2e\u80cc\u666f\u7684\u5973\u6027\u53c3\u8207\u8046\u807d\u8207\u8072\u97f3\u5275\u4f5c\u7684\u5be6\u8e10\uff0c\u6311\u6230\u4e3b\u6d41\u7684\u8072\u97f3\u611f\u77e5\u6a21\u5f0f\uff0c\u4e26\u900f\u904e\u8072\u97f3\u5275\u4f5c\u8207\u96c6\u9ad4\u8046\u807d\uff0c\u57f9\u990a\u611f\u77e5\u529b\u3001\u7167\u9867\u610f\u8b58\u8207\u8a18\u61b6\u7684\u6d41\u52d5\u3002\u53c3\u8207\u8005\u4e0d\u53ea\u662f\u5206\u4eab\u500b\u4eba\u7d93\u9a57\uff0c\u66f4\u900f\u904e\u8072\u97f3\u6210\u70ba\u7a7a\u9593\u4e2d\u7684\u884c\u52d5\u8005\u8207\u6558\u8ff0\u8005\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n
