Whispered Silhouette<\/em> is an interactive sound installation that investigates the entangled relationships between sound, gender, and spatial perception. The work features a discarded moving box fitted with two metal horns\u2014one for speaking and one for listening. Visitors are invited to sit, speak, and listen, engaging the body and ear in a layered sonic experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the speaker’s voice passes through the system, it undergoes real-time transformation via Max\/MSP using distortion, amplitude modulation, ring modulation, and delay. These effects shift every minute. The listener hears two versions of the voice: a faint trace of the original and a dominant processed signal. This asymmetrical sound interaction highlights the instability of listening and the constructed nature of sonic identity. Ambient sounds and bodily gestures within the space are also integrated into the morphing process, amplifying the installation\u2019s sensory complexity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rooted in feminist theories of voice and subjectivity, the piece deconstructs speech clarity to foreground sensation over semantics. As part of GUI Ren\u2019s Female Soundscape Project<\/em>, the work invites reflection on how women\u2014as both vocal and listening bodies\u2014reshape acoustic environments through their presence, memory, and movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u300aWhispered Silhouette\u300b\u662f\u4e00\u4ef6\u4e92\u52d5\u5f0f\u8072\u97f3\u88dd\u7f6e\u4f5c\u54c1\uff0c\u63a2\u8a0e\u8072\u97f3\u3001\u6027\u5225\u8207\u7a7a\u9593\u611f\u77e5\u4e4b\u9593\u932f\u7d9c\u8907\u96dc\u7684\u95dc\u4fc2\u3002\u4f5c\u54c1\u4f7f\u7528\u4e00\u500b\u5ee2\u68c4\u642c\u5bb6\u7d19\u7bb1\uff0c\u88dd\u6709\u5169\u500b\u91d1\u5c6c\u5587\u53ed\u2014\u2014\u4e00\u5074\u4f9b\u89c0\u773e\u767c\u8072\uff0c\u53e6\u4e00\u5074\u4f9b\u8046\u807d\u3002\u89c0\u773e\u53ef\u5750\u4e0b\u8207\u5176\u4e92\u52d5\uff0c\u900f\u904e\u8eab\u9ad4\u8207\u8033\u6735\u9032\u5165\u4e00\u5834\u591a\u5c64\u6b21\u7684\u8072\u97f3\u7d93\u9a57\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u7576\u8072\u97f3\u901a\u904e\u7cfb\u7d71\u6642\uff0c\u6703\u7d93\u7531 Max\/MSP \u7a0b\u5f0f\u5373\u6642\u8655\u7406\uff0c\u61c9\u7528\u5931\u771f\u3001\u632f\u5e45\u8abf\u8b8a\u3001\u74b0\u5f62\u8abf\u8b8a\u8207\u5ef6\u9072\u7b49\u6548\u679c\uff0c\u6bcf\u5206\u9418\u96a8\u6a5f\u5207\u63db\u3002\u8046\u807d\u8005\u5c07\u540c\u6642\u63a5\u6536\u5230\u5169\u5c64\u8072\u97f3\uff1a\u539f\u59cb\u8072\u97f3\u7684\u5fae\u5f31\u75d5\u8de1\u8207\u4e3b\u5c0e\u7684\u8b8a\u5f62\u8072\u97f3\u3002\u9019\u7a2e\u55ae\u5411\u8072\u97f3\u4ea4\u6d41\u63ed\u793a\u4e86\u8046\u807d\u7684\u4e0d\u7a69\u5b9a\u6027\u8207\u8072\u97f3\u8eab\u4efd\u7684\u5efa\u69cb\u6027\u3002\u88dd\u7f6e\u4e5f\u5c07\u5c55\u5834\u5167\u7684\u74b0\u5883\u8072\u8207\u89c0\u773e\u7684\u8eab\u9ad4\u52d5\u4f5c\u7d0d\u5165\u8655\u7406\u6d41\u7a0b\uff0c\u9032\u4e00\u6b65\u52a0\u5f37\u5176\u611f\u5b98\u5c64\u6b21\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u672c\u4f5c\u53d7\u5230\u5973\u6027\u4e3b\u7fa9\u5c0d\u8072\u97f3\u8207\u4e3b\u9ad4\u6027\u7684\u7406\u8ad6\u555f\u767c\uff0c\u900f\u904e\u300c\u53bb\u8a9e\u610f\u5316\u300d\u7684\u8072\u97f3\u8655\u7406\uff0c\u8b93\u89c0\u773e\u5c08\u6ce8\u65bc\u611f\u77e5\u672c\u8eab\u800c\u975e\u8a9e\u8a00\u610f\u7fa9\u3002\u4f5c\u70ba GUI Ren\u300c\u5973\u6027\u8072\u97f3\u666f\u89c0\u8a08\u5283\u300d\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\uff0c\u4f5c\u54c1\u5f15\u5c0e\u89c0\u773e\u601d\u8003\u5973\u6027\u5982\u4f55\u900f\u904e\u8072\u97f3\u8207\u8eab\u9ad4\uff0c\u91cd\u5851\u57ce\u5e02\u7a7a\u9593\u4e2d\u7684\u8072\u97f3\u7d93\u9a57\u8207\u5b58\u5728\u611f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n
